Work affects AZ 87 between AZ188 and Rye

Lane restrictions expected next week during work hours

Work continues on the pavement improvement project on State Route 87 between Rye and State Route 188, between mileposts 235 and 241, and requires the highway to be restricted to one lane in each direction starting Tuesday, Feb. 18.

During the restriction, which will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday over the next two weeks, the existing pavement on the roadway will be milled and then repaved with asphalt.

Drivers are encouraged to be aware of increased volume of truck traffic as milling and paving work occurs.  The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph and minimal delays are expected.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
