Smoke due to Lake Mary prescribed burn

The Payson Ranger District has received many calls today regarding smoke in Rim Country. The smoke is from a 300 acre prescribed fire treatment off Forest Hwy. 3 (Lake Mary Road) that is being conducted by the Coconino National Forest. Residents and visitors to the area and communities beneath the Mogollon Rim can expect to see and smell smoke from this RX treatment throughout the remainder of the week.

Even though it is third week in October, fire indices (fire danger) on the Payson Ranger District today are high and have been for a few days. Please be vigilant, exercise caution,  and be fire safe.
