Payson gun protestors pathetic

  EDITORIAL

Payson's Tea Party folks used to scare me a little when they hoisted their signs outside the county complex.  A very scary bunch that's part of a growing national movment.

No more.

When the Tea Party and assorted gun wackjobs gathered Saturday to protest sensible gun reform, what I felt was a combination of pity and disdain.

Because their time is over and their message is wrong.

Oh, they may win this round of gun legislation.  But every day their numbers are decreasing.  The demographics don't lie.

According to an article in the current issue of USA WEEKEND titled "The Changing Face of America," the percentage of non-whites in this country has gone from 30 to 37 percent in the last 12 years.  Among those under 45, the percentage of whites will slip under 50 percent in 15 years.  Among kids, it will happen in six years.

The party is over, folks.  The Tea Party is a declining force in America.  Each and every day their power and influence is slipping a little more.

Being a white guy myself, it's a little bittersweet.

But watching the folks waving signs in Payson yesterday, the feeling soon passed.  Because that dwindling group (including the gun wackjobs) is so out of touch with what the majority wants this country to become.

The feeling that replaced it is elation.  I am so proud that our country is going to once again stand for the right things.

They stir a tempest in their own teapot. They rally the choir within the church. The noise makes them feel comfortable and correct. In short, they meet the definition of "Fool."

This the first time i have read this blog and the last. In a REPUBLIC my rights are protected no matter how unpopular they are with the majority. I may not agree with your view but I will stand to protect it, unlike you progressives who believe you have the right to tell people how to live their lives. You think name calling and belittling people online makes you better or smarter than they are, your just another progressive bully. An armed man is a free man, an unamred man is a slave. Think about it.

These people are dangerous, though. They can cause a lot of damage as they call for antagonism toward the government. Sooner or later either one of them or someone influenced by them will attempt some kind of "suicide mission" to show their "patriotism". They refuse to respond to reason.

They live under a cloud of suspicion, distrust and fear. That doesn't seem too free to me. If one must carry a firearm in order to feel free, then freedom needs a new definition. Those who are ruled by constant fear and distrust are true slaves to their feelings. Mr. Keyworth (and many others) do not claim that protesters have no right to their "speech." Mr. Keyworth (and many others) use their own right to free speech to express sadness that some people live under a cloud of distortion and urge others to join them.

Unfortunately you have hit a home run here. The left wing "wackos" only defend their way of thinking, not any other opinions. Jim, how would you feel if the government started chiseling a bit off the first ammendment? Please. . . Not all gun advocates are knuckle dragging Neanderthals. Try doing the right thing and fighting for the rights given to us by our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Like it or not we'll fight for you.

Give me a break. Peaceable assembly. No one hurt. Shame on you for being such a left wing jerk. Go drink your koolaid buddy.

Jim, notice how the wackos don't approve of YOUR right of free speech.
