Roundup joins Brewer in spreading crap

Today's (Oct. 6) front page headline in The Arizona Republic ("BORDER AGENT DEATH TIED TO FRIENDLY FIRE") belies a serious problem that the right wing has - telling the truth.  Republican Gov. Jan Brewer was all over the shooting of Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Ivie, blaming President Obama.  Now that the truth is out - he was shot by our own guys and there were no Mexicans at the scene - she can't quite seem to bring herself to take it back.

And your Payson Roundup (no longer the best little newspaper in the state) is also culpable for spreading right wing crap.  Its recent front page article recounting Republican Rep. Paul Gosar's story about Libyan ambassador Christopher Stevens being sodomized and dragged through the streets was pure fantasy.

Here's what Agence French Presse (as quoted by Snopes) has to say about the Stevens rumor: "That report falsely quoted our news agency and has no truth whatsoever to it."  Snopes further noted: "U.S. news accounts reported that Ambassador Stevens was not raped and killed by members of that mob...: he was alive when brought to a hospital, he bore no external injuries, and he died of smoke inhalation from the fire started in the attack on the consulate.

I know right wingers hate it when one brings up the possibility of racism, but how else can you explain it?  Give me a viable alternative.  Your Governor and Your Payson Roundup should be ashamed.

We are owed an apology and a retraction, but don't expect that anytime soon.

Fairminded Rim Country residents can, however, fight back.  To subscribe to the Republic, call 1-800-332-6733.

It's the truth.

So the Roundup uses the word "sodomy" in a "family newspaper."

Bad enough to introduce our children to this concept if the story were true.

Since it's not true, what the Roundup did is unconscionable.

Makes it easy to see why this paper is no longer the best non-daily in the state.
