Noble endorses Lady D's, El Mexicano

By Noble Collins

Lady D's, a new store which sells wine, has opened in Payson's Swiss Village Shops.

It is a nice store with a nice owner and a different concept. You can order a single glass of certain wines or order a bottle of displayed wines to be opened for you. You can even order some beers. You CANNOT purchase an unopened bottle and leave with it. Theirs is a bar license which prohibits retail sales.

They also sell homemade chocolate truffles which are quite good and some costume jewlery and some nice art.

Later they plan to offer Tapas (small dishes of various foods). I can see this as a nice place to perhaps get together for a nice bottle of wine and a snack before or after dinner. I believe they will also offer Port & Sherry. The prices are somewhat steep for casual drinking, however.

It's worth mentioning that any wine you find there and want to order can be ordered through The Beverage Place (probably special order, but we use the same supplier.) Go and enjoy if you are inclined. I think it can only help our business.

Meanwhile the jury is still out on The Journigan House (the new /old restaurant on Main St.).

On the other hand, El Mexicano (the new/old Mexican restaurant on Beeline in the adobe building) is wonderful. The food is fresh, authentic and perfectly seasoned. Finally Payson has a great Mexican restaurant. The margaritas are the best!
