Mesa del location selected for Cragin plant

The U.S. Forest Service has selected Alternative 7 as the site of water treatment plant for the Blue Ridge/C.C. Cragin project.  That site is on the east side of Houston Mesa Road and along the southeast boundary of the community of Mes del Caballo.  The pipeline route was also approved.  The project provides a means to transport and treat surface water from C.C. Cragin to the Town of Payson and Mesa del Caballo.  Other northern Gila County communities may also receive Cragin water at some point.  The green line on the map above follows Houston Mesa Road and then angles left onto Caballero Road, the main entrance to Mesa del Caballo.  The site of the plant is on the southeast side of Houston Mesa Road just past the entrance.  Click on map to enlarge.
