Humane Society event features blues, bluegrass

Make a difference for the animals served by the Humane Society of Central Arizona by attending an afternoon filled with music, merriment, food, and wine on the picturesque grounds at Randall Ranch in Rye from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 4, 2011. Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch, delectable desserts, bluegrass and blues, as well as a bronze art display.

Red and white wines will be presented by winemaker Mark Lyon, of Sebastiani Vineyards, Sonoma, California and Southern Arizona’s Coronado Vineyards owner Jacque Cook. Mark and the Lyon family hosted last year's highly successful event "Country Wine, Jazz, Cheese and Chocolate Festival" at their La Cienega Ranch.

Coronado Vineyards, a family business owned and managed by Jacque Cook and her husband Mark, produces some of Arizona’s finest wines. The vineyards are nestled against the Dos Cabezas mountains an hour's drive from Tucson. They grow and harvest grapes of distinct quality and character from which their award winning wines are produced.

On stage will be "Murphy’s Law" offering an eclectic mix of bluegrass, swing, old-timey, and original music from a group of highly regarded musicians. Their creativity and diversity with mandolin, guitar, and claw hammer style banjo makes for an exhilarating, toe stomping performance. Also not to be missed is "The Loose Cannons Blues Band" known for their unique style of "deep" traditional Chicago style blues. Led by James Bailey, the original Loose Cannon Band founder and drummer, the members of this eclectic band include some of the most proficient blues musicians in Arizona.

In addition to the gastronomic delights, wine, bronzes, bluegrass and blues there will also be lip print readings, canine "loose leash and free style" demonstrations and chair massage.
A raffle will be held to win a trip to California’s wine country. The trip includes round trip airfare to Oakland and a three night stay, wine and food pairings and Spa Treatments at the Kenwood Inn and Spa in Sonoma, California. The Inn received the Condé Nast Travelers Reader’s Choice Award 2010 for Top Small Resort U.S. and Condé Nast also named Kenwood Inn and Spa to its annual Gold List of The World's Best Places to Stay.

Tickets for "Reds, Whites, Bronzes and Bluegrass" are being pre-sold online at www.humanesocietycentralaz.org, or through the board of directors and individual ticket captains. All proceeds will benefit the animals served by the Humane Society of Central Arizona a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. For more information call 928 474-5590.
