Montini: State legislature trying to 'outdummy' us

IN SUNDAY'S REPUBLIC

In today's big Sunday paper, Arizona Republic columnist E. J. Montini takes in a baseball spring training game and can't help noticing how much our state legislators' lack of logical behavior can be explained in terms of baseball.

"Arizona politicians seem to base their decisions on the example set by Hall of Fame pitcher Dizzy Dean who said, 'I never tried to outsmart nobody.  It was easier to outdummy them,'" Montini writes.

And he agrees with one "frustrated legislator" who recommends adding a sixth "C" to the five on the state seal, so it would read "Copper, Cotton, Cattle, Citrus, Climate ... and CRAZY."

To read the entire column click on news.azcentral.com.  Or better yet, pick up your own copy, complete with a front page wraparound Basha's flyer, color comics, hundreds of dollars worth of coupons, and so much more -- including a grim forecast for a busy and grueling fire season.

Best of all, pick up the phone and call 1-800-332-6733 to have the Republic delivered free to your doorstep.  It's by far your best newspaper value.
