Thrift, consignment stores inexpensive alternative

Contributed photo
When you visit the Humane Society of Central Arizona Thrift Store, you can expect the greeter to be down on all fours.  This is Radar, the latest addition to your editor's family.  Radar was in the shelter for over a year, before we adopted him.   His tour of duty as a greeter is Tuesday afternoons.  Come on by and say hi.  Treats are accepted.

If you're tired of the Wal-Mart option and don't want to trek to the Valley, here's another idea for your holiday shopping -- the Rim Country's fine thrift stores, consignment stores and the library bookstore.

The Humane Society and Senior Center thrift stores are on Main Street, the Time Out thrift store is on the Beeline, the Mogollon Health Alliance thrift store is on Aero Drive, the American Legion thrift store is on AZ260, and Pine has its own Senior thrift store on the Beeline.

In addition, Loot Designer Resale has moved to the Beeline and Bonita, right behind One Stop Gas.  And the Habitat for Humanity ReSale store has lots of gifts for the guy in your life.

Finally, don't forget the Library Friends Bookstore inside the library at Rumsey Park, which is featuring an extensive collection of Christmas fiction, music, cookbooks, and craft books during December.  Items are priced at $1 to $3 and you can get two for the price of one.

If we've left anyone out, let us know.
