Beeline paving between Payson, Pine next week

Delays could reach 30 minutes as project ends

PRESCOTT – The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will begin the final paving of a project to improve Arizona State Route 87 between Payson and Pine on June 21. Work hours will be dawn to dusk, June 21 through June 25.

The project includes work in two separate segments: Segment 1, a 1.3-mile segment just north of Payson; and Segment 2, a one-mile segment just south of Pine. A pilot car and flaggers will guide vehicles through the work zone.

ADOT advises drivers to be alert for workers and construction equipment and anticipate delays of up to 30 minutes during peak hours. Bradshaw Road will be closed while the roadway is being paved near its intersection with SR 87.

Crews will apply rubberized asphalt to the roadway in both segments. Rubberized asphalt reduces maintenance costs, increases pavement life, improves skid resistance and decreases noise levels.

The project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
